System Shock: Enhanced Edition will be available on GOG.com and will offer improved visuals, gameplay, and more.
System Shock originally released back in 1994 and is categorized as an FPS/RPG hybrid which helped influence a number of noteworthy games, like Deus Ex and BioShock. Its enhanced edition supports resolutions up to 1024x768 and native 854x480 widescreen support. Gameplay has also been improved as a toggleable mouselook mode has been added, remappable controls, a more intuitive inventory and item management system, and assorted bug fixes.
Those looking for a more authentic experience can play the game with its original content in System Shock: Classic. This version of the game fully supports modern systems while leaving the rest of its experience completely unaltered.
Both System Shock: Enhanced Edition and Classic are available in a single package and will be discounted during its launch week. All GOG.com customers will receive a 20% discount for the game, while those who own System Shock 2 will be able to pick this bundle up for 40% off. These discounts will last until September 29 at 2:59am EDT.
