The Witness sees the light in January with up to 100 hours of gameplay expected

Here we go, the latest and greatest from Shacknews...

It's been a long journey across a deserted island for developer Jonathan Blow, but the one-man force behind Braid is finally ready to reveal a release for his next big-time puzzle game. The Witness now has a release date, with a new trailer announcing a January 26 arrival on both PlayStation 4 and PC.

The Witness is an exploration puzzle game that sees a player look around a massive island of varying environments, solving various light-based puzzles to access more of it. The game has been oft-delayed and missed its PS4 launch target by quite a bit, but that's for a good reason. Development studio Thekia's work has not only added numerous textures and environments to the game, but according to a PlayStation.Blog post from Blow, the game's length has expanded significantly, going from "8 and 12 hours of playtime" to something around "80 hours, or possibly 100" for completionists.

To get an idea of how much progress Blow and company have made, check out the video below.
