Following rumors of a slimmer Xbox One due out this year and a revamped Xbox One—codenamed Scorpio—slated for 2017, an "Xbox One Virtual Reality" filter has popped up on E3's official website.
Word of the new category comes from NeoGaf users, who also found that several companies have already registered under the filter: Rebellion (Sniper Elite), Maximum Games (Farming Simulator), 3DRudder, and Readily Information Company are among who have thrown their names into the "Xbox One Virtual Reality" hat.
If you don't recognize 3DRudder by name, you soon will. The company manufactures and sells the eponymous 3DRudder, a disc-like controller for your feet instead of your hands. It's meant to be used in conjunction with VR games. The idea is that the 3DRudder gives you a way of "moving" around in virtual reality while you're sitting in a chair: you interact with game worlds using your controller and VR headset, and sway your feet, balanced on the 3DRudder, to imitate walking.
Meanwhile, Readily Information Company concentrates on business-end software for games, namely programs meant to assist with modeling.
We'll get more information on what Readily, 3DRudder, and other companies have in store for VR apps on Xbox One at E3, just a few short weeks away.
