Warning: Full spoilers for Season 3 of The Leftovers follow...
I've written so much about The Leftovers, heaping appropriate ample praise, over the past three years that I won't take up too much of your time with this review of the final season except to say that the show managed to figure out the perfect final story to tell with the eight episodes it was gifted this year.
It was a shortened final run, compared to the 10 episodes it had to play with during each of its other two seasons, and yes it would have been wonderful to spend a little more time with the Murphy family in their new fragmented form as we semi-sped out of the story, but because this was a pared down final run, a couple of difficult decisions had to be made and characters who previously had been showcased more were given a smaller packaging this year. And it wasn't just John, Michael and Erika who were short-sheeted a smidgen, but Jill and Tommy as well.
