Searching Review

The latest game news from IGN - one of my fave channels ever - check it out

It wouldn’t be surprising if some who have seen the trailers, or are aware of the premise, would dismiss Searching right away because of how gimmicky it is, but I urge them not to do so. Yes, the story has been told before - David Kim (John Cho) goes on a frantic quest to find his missing daughter Margot (Michelle La), with the help of a no-nonsense cop (Debra Messing). We’ve also seen the gimmick before - a movie completely told through computer/cell phone screens - all of which (Unfriended, Unfriended: Dark Web, Profile) have been either produced or directed by Searching producer Timur Bekmambetov. While the story and the gimmick of Searching are both not new, the sum is most certainly greater than the whole of its parts, in truly brilliant ways.
