Even with DICE's main team having moved on to Star Wars Battlefront and the latest Battlefield currently in the hands of Visceral Games, Battlefield 4 continues to roll on strong. In fact, today is seeing the game receive one of its largest updates so far. The Fall Update features massive balance tweaks, especially when it comes to vehicles, and also wraps up the Community Map Project.
Operation Outbreak is the result of a long effort from DICE to design a Battlefield 4 map from scratch alongside the game's community. This medium-sized Jungle-themed map centers around several desructible objects, without focusing on a single large piece. Look for areas like the waterfall and the temple to house more than a couple of firefights.
The extensive vehicle balance pass overhauls the vehicle system significantly. Ground vehicle weapons and gadgers like Active and Passive Radar, Heat Seekers, Laser Guided, TOW Missiles, Zuni Rockets, Gunner Incendiary, Mini-guns, IR Flares, ECM Jammers, Fire Extinguishers, Active Protection, IR Smoke, and Smoke Screens have mostly been buffed to make them more useful. Air vehicles have had their gadgets adjusted to give them new uses, such as the Below Radar being added to all aircraft to encourage low flight. Water vehicles have also been adjusted for more balanced combat. The change list is a massive one, so brew a pot of coffee and find the full PDF file here.
The Battlefield 4 Fall Update arrives today on all platforms. Credit to Chatty's ant hillbilly for the tip.
