Dragon's Lair creators launch Kickstarter campaign to fund film adaptation

Here we go, the latest and greatest from Shacknews...

A film adaptation of Dragon’s Lair is currently on Kickstarter with both Don Bluth and Gary Goldman announcing they’ll take part in the project if it becomes fully funded.

Both Bluth and Goldman are seeking a total of $550,000 in funding to bring the project to life, or at least a version of the film that can be pitched to major motion film studios, private investors, and/or investment banks for loans and/or equity investment. The Dragon’s Lair: The Movie project is estimated to cost $70 million to produce with its pitched version consisting of a unique teaser presentation that will include a section of the script with recorded dialogues, storyboards, some animation and color art direction.

As is the case with the majority of Kickstarter projects, there are a number of rewards available for those who decide to fund Dragon’s Lair: The Movie. Rewards range from Dragon’s Lair postcards, lanyards, a Dirk pin, a copy of the film’s Blu-ray version, and more. Some of the more expensive pledge rewards includes a Princess Daphne statue, a Don Bluth Animation Masterclass, and a live mentoring from Don Bluth himself.

The Dragon’s Lair: The Movie Kickstarter campaign has a month to go, and as of this writing, has funded over $15,000. If you have any interest in seeing a Dragon’s Lair movie, then head on over to the Kickstarter campaign to show your support.
