There is a lot of potential in USA's Colony. It's a show exploring how occupation by a larger, stronger force affects the people in the occupied area -- something endlessly relevant, and endlessly interesting. The twist is that the occupiers are aliens from another planet, forcing their human supporters to rule over others and dole out punishment to those who resist.
Still interesting is the framing device of Season 1: the season centered around one family, the Bowmans, as the husband Will (Josh Holloway) is forced to be a collaborator and his wife Katie (Sarah Wayne Callies) reacts by joining the Resistance. There are other characters, who are varying degrees of interesting, but it's the Bowmans who are at the center of the story.
