Warning: Full spoilers for the episode below.
Normally, I wouldn't enjoy an episode ending the way "What Might Have Been" did. With Ragnar about to get caught up in Rollo's river chain trap. And all of it leading to a big battle. But that moment with Rollo riding down to the water, on horseback, as a traitor felt like a good stopping point. It hit home well enough.
Ragnar's return to Paris has been rocky from the start. He's now unmotivated, distracted, and addicted to drugs. Also, he was bitter enough at Aslaug to bring his oldest sons with him on the raid. And now Harald, Harald's brother, and their new friend Floki are becoming majorly cruel and reckless. Executing enemy prisoners for no cause other than to sadistically honor their gods. And appease their own angry bloodlust. So things aren't exactly tight on the Norseman end of things. Now throw Rollo's betrayal into the mix and this raid has pretty much failed already.
