Sony considering PlayStation VR for PC release

Here we go, the latest and greatest from Shacknews...

With the Oculus Rift launching today and the HTC Vive coming next week, the last thing PC owners need is another VR headset to clutter up their desktops. But today, we’re learning Sony’s PlayStation VR could eventually make its way to PC.

Sony Computer Entertainment senior vice president Masayasu Ito recently told Nikkei making the PSVR compatible with PCs is something the company could see potential in. “Since PlayStation 4 shares a lot of its components with PCs, the possibility is there,” Masayasu-san said. “At the moment we are focused on games and we are not ready to make any announcements at this stage, but I’d say there will be an expansion into various fields.”

If the PlayStation VR made its way to PC, it’d be a great entry device for those who may not have enough to purchase either an Oculus Rift or HTC Vive. The PSVR’s $399 price of admission seems a little easier to stomach than the Rift’s $599 and the Vive’s $799.
