Forza Motorsport 6: Apex launches PC open beta on May 5

Here we go, the latest and greatest from Shacknews...

Forza 6 has been motoring around for Xbox One since September. Last month, PC players were teased with the reveal that they would get a smaller free-to-play version of the popular franchise. Now we get word that it will happen when the open beta launches on May 5.

Developer Turn 10 Studios offered more details today on Forza Motorsport 6: Apex, saying it will deliver "a focused and curated single-player tour of Forza Motorsport’s best content, including authentic wheel-to-wheel action, unique automotive experiences, and constant rewards, all running on DirectX 12 at resolutions up to 4K. In the game, players will be able to dive into a new career mode anchored by a 12-event “Showcase Tour”, where players will race thrilling cars on circuits from across the globe."

The game will have 63 cars, and 20 tracks in six locations. It will allow players to compete against the "drivetars"of other Forza 6 players, but wil no online multiplayer.

Turn 10 said that the beta will continue through the summer and players will get new updates and improvements when they become available. Some of the things the developer will be adding include support for a driving wheel, an in-app framerate counter and the ability to disable VSync.
