The Punisher #1 Review

The latest game news from IGN - one of my fave channels ever - check it out

Note: this is a spoiler-free advance review of The Punisher #1, which will be released on Wednesday, May 4.

For those keeping score, this is now the tenth Marvel series to bear the name "The Punisher." It's also the sixth Punisher comic to be illustrated by Steve Dillon (who also drew The Punisher Vol. 4 and 5, PunisherMAX, Punisher vs. Bullseye and Punisher: War Zone - The Resurrection of Ma Gnucci). Needless to say, fans can be forgiven if they're feeling a bit of franchise fatigue by now. There's a real challenge in keeping a character like Frank Castle fresh and exciting, especially given his singularly focused personality and the sheer number of comics he's appeared in over the years. This first issue doesn't exactly reinvent the wheel, but it manages to deliver a comfortably familiar Punisher experience with just enough new wrinkles to avoid feeling stagnant.
