Berserk Review

The latest game news from IGN - one of my fave channels ever - check it out

"Night of Miracles" was not a good episode. In fact, it was pretty bad. The framerate was unsteady, the camera angles were weird, and the pacing was all over the place. I hope this was just a temporary misstep, because if this is the direction Berserk is going in, it doesn't bode well for the rest of the season.

Night of Miracles began with the Black Swordsman and the commander of the Holy Iron Chain Knights being chased by an army of hell hounds. Watching Guts use his giant broadsword to dispatch these evil creatures should have been fun to watch, but it was hard to enjoy because the uneven framerate diminished a lot of the action. There was also a lot of strange art direction. I have no idea why the camera kept helicoptering around Guts, but it made it hard to keep track of what was happening. Luckily, the animation smoothed out a bit after Farnese and Guts took shelter in an old mansion, where — unbeknownst to them — a powerful demon known as an Apostle had taken up residence.
