Let me cut to the chase and talk about that amazing bus scene. What an expertly crafted sequence, with “Tainted Love” now given an extra-ominous vibe, as Philip killed some poor security guy who was in the wrong place, at the wrong time, seeing that pilot/spy crack under pressure… the pressure of transporting a horribly dangerous bioweapon which was not only sitting on that bus during all of this murder and mayhem, but which Philip and Elizabeth then had to bring back into their home!
It was exciting and scary and tragic and once more didn’t let the Jennings off the hook for having to kill innocent people to complete their missions… all classic American hallmarks.
