Better Call Saul: Season 2 Review

There's a lot to love in Better Call Saul. It's a beautiful show, wonderfully acted and featuring some of the most impressive and stunningly crafted cinematography on TV. But looking back at Season 2 as a whole, it's clear that the show's insistence on keeping its scale small also is holding it back from reaching its full potential.

Better Call Saul is a show that clearly prides itself on its slow, careful pacing, and a lot of times that works to the series' advantage. But at times that felt like Better Call Saul lacked the energy it had back in Season 1 and that moved Breaking Bad along in such an engaging way. While meaningful when used effectively, there also were beautiful, masterfully done sequences that, in reflection, might have taken away from the telling of the story.
