Doom open beta dates and post launch content revealed

Here we go, the latest and greatest from Shacknews...

Doom will be coming out on May 13 and Bethesda has slowly been ramping up the news for the game. The closed beta has already concluded, so its time to reveal that the open beta will start April 15 and run through April 17.

In addition, Bethesda has revealed that there will be three DLC multiplayer packs coming after release, although no dates are given except "before the end of the year." The first pack, slated for the sumer some time, will offer:

  • Three new maps
  • One new weapon
  • One new playable demon
  • One new armor set
  • One new piece of equipment
  • New hack modules and taunts
  • New customization colors and patterns

Each DLC pack will cost $14.99, or you can drop $39.99 to get the season pass to cover all the packs. Most retailers will allow you to pre-order the pass.

Snapmap, which allows players to create their own content for Doom, will also get regular free updates including map modules; props and objects; additional features and functionality; AI enhancements; and editing tool enhancements. Bethesda also promises some free content updates as well.

Doom is being released on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
