Gas up your 12 Light Reconnaissance Vehicles (what the unwashed masses refer to as Warthogs) and lock and load your assault rifles. Bungie rolled out Ghost of Meridian, a new free update for Halo 5, earlier today.
Ghost of Meridian weighs in at 8.3 GB, and packs in new weapons, vehicles, customization options for the Scorpion and Mantis, and two new maps—Tyrant, playable in Arena; and Skirmish at Darkstar, for Warzone mode. Digging through the Ghost of Meridian hub on the game's official website reveals that Skirmish of Darkstar features brand-new bosses, While Tyrant is optimized for CTF and Assault play.
Perhaps more tantalizingly to Halo 5 vets eager for something new, Bungie has announced that a beta for Firefight will run between April 14-18—five days of up to eight Spartans banding together to battle A.I. opponents on the Escape from A.R.C. map. Game sessions unfold over five rounds, and each round asks you to check off increasingly difficult objectives. "And since the mode is a fully realized member of the Warzone family," Bungie notes, "players will have full access to their arsenal in the Halo 5: Guardians REQ system, letting you leverage your REQs in new ways against computer-controlled enemies."
The Firefight beta will also include a new promotional pack, Mythic Warzone REQ, that'll facilitate unlocking better REQs.
