ZeniMax files new trademark application for Starfield

Here we go, the latest and greatest from Shacknews...

ZeniMax, Bethesda's parent company, has a long and storied history with filing patents for a rainy day. Today, GameSpot brings word of another chapter: a fourth patent for Starfield, with the first being filed three years ago this month.

The first three patents ZeniMax filed for Starfield pertained to PC and console projects, and merchandise such as T-shirt. This fourth patent deals with mobile games, lending credence to the expectation that Bethesda will be pursuing mobile development more aggressively. The studio recently opened an office in Canada geared toward mobile games.

Bethesda's Fallout Shelter, released immediately upon its announcement at E3 last year, enjoyed great success, leading Bethesda director and producer Todd Howard to confirm that the company will develop more mobile titles in the future.

Next up on that front: The Elder Scrolls Legends, a strategy card game coming to PC and mobile devices later this year, and entering closed beta soon.
