There were Call of Duty leaks and more leaks, on top of hints and even yesterday's tease to an announcement livestream today. But the truth is right here: The next Call of Duty is indeed Infinite Warfare, and it will be coming on November 4 for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
"With Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, we are taking Call of Duty to places fans have never experienced in the series,” said Dave Stohl, head of developer Infinity Ward. “On one hand, this game is the kind of gritty, boots on the ground, visceral war story that Call of Duty is known for. On the other, its future setting takes players on a journey of epic scale and proportions, providing incredible gameplay innovations and new experiences for our fans. This is a grand scale, old-school, all-out war in an epic new-school setting. And it’s going to be a hell of a lot of fun.”
The campaign will have players going from boots-on-the-ground, to piloting a jet fighter, to zero-g and space combat, With the emphasis on space, Infinity Ward says there that will mean new weapons, environments and player abilities, and all with no loading screens.
While the campaign will have a different focus, the game will still have Multiplayer and Zombie components. While there aren't many details for the multiplayer modes or maps, the zombie mode will allow cooperative play and offer a new storyline to go with the space theme and mechanics. We'll probably get more details at Activision show in Los Angeles around E3.
As for Call of Duty Modern Warfare Remastered, the game is being redone by Raven Software in conjunction with Infinity Ward. We knew the game would not have a full complement of maps, but Crossfire, Backlot and Crash will be back. Killstreaks, XP and Prestige are also being added. The campaign will have the complete original mission list.
“The original Modern Warfare raised the bar on video games and forever will be remembered as one of the best," said Brian Raffel, head of Raven. "It’s an honor to be developing the remaster and we are committed to faithfully remastering this classic for Call of Duty fans.”
Infinite Warfare and the Remastered Edition will be part of three different packages: A Legacy/Digital Edition for $79.99, a Digital Deluxe Edition for $99.99 that includes a Season Pass for future DLC, and Legacy Pro Edition for $119.99, which has the Season Pass, soundtrack, Steelbook and some digital extras.
Be sure to watch the livestream later today at 1:30 ET and 10:30 PT on the Twitch Call of Duty channel for any additional details.
