GOG.com has announced its own version of Steam’s Early Access, which it’s calling Games in Development, which looks to one-up the competition by offering a 14-day refund policy with no questions asked.
Titles included in the Games in Development branch of GOG are hand-picked and will be games the service “can truly stand behind.” These games will be considered some of the most promising titles, as well as those that have been highly requested via the Community Wishlist. Updates can be controlled manually if you want, allowing you to rollback to an earlier version of the game if an update breaks something or doesn’t perform as you’d like it to.
The most interesting option is the 14-day refund policy GOG has enacted for the Games in Development program. The policy is simple: 14 days with no questions asked. “If you don't think the game is sufficiently fleshed out, or if it simply doesn't click with you — all games in development can be returned for any reason within 14 days of purchase,” reads a statement on the GOG website.
GOG has a total of five games available as part of its Games in Development program, which includes Starbound, Ashes of the Singularity, Project Zomboid, TerraTech, and The Curious Expedition.
