Play On The SHIELD Android TV: Doom 3 BFG Edition

Here we go, the latest and greatest from Shacknews...

iD Software’s Doom 3 originally released back in August 2004 with its BFG Edition releasing eight years later in October 2012, which included everything a true Doom fan could want. And now, SHIELD Android TV owners can enjoy Doom, Doom II, Doom 3, and Doom 3: Resurrection of Evil, and the Lost Mission for less than $10 bucks!

Doom 3 BFG Edition includes a number of improvements over the original Doom 3, which includes improved rendering and lighting, a new checkpoint system, fine-tuned controls, an armor-mounted flashlight, and support for achievements. Also, as we mentioned above, the all-new chapter, The Lost Mission, includes a total of eight new single-player levels and a completely new storyline.

Even though Doom 3 is over 10 years old, we can assure you that it’s still as scary as it was back then as you’ll still be coming across Demons, Commandos, Imps, and several types of zombies through your adventure. And with the inclusion of an armor-mounted flashlight, it’ll be much easier to navigate and combat your enemies, although we like to get the true Doom 3 experience, we like to just close our eyes when we attempt to attack an enemy. That’s pretty much how we had to play it back then since the game had us putting down our flashlight when we needed to wield a weapon. And, yes - that game mechanic is as annoying as it sounds.
