Bravely Second: End Layer is releasing in the US in just a little over a month, but it appears the version that will release outside of Japan has been changed a bit due to customer feedback.
Nintendo has revealed Square Enix, in conjunction with Silicon Studio, has decided to revise Bravely Second based on feedback received after its initial release in Japan. These revisions were made in order to improve its quality and to help create a more enjoyable product.
One example of these changes affects some of it’s optional side quests that had players coming across a conflict between two opposing parties, which resulted in siding with one of them. At the end of these side quests, the team would lament over the decision that was made, regardless of the player’s decision. “This was intended to help players empathise with the characters' situation, but overwhelming feedback from players indicated that they felt an unsatisfying disconnect between their intentions and the characters' reactions,” Nintendo said.
As a result, these side quests have been changed to show the party coming to terms with their actions, thus causing the player not to regret their decision.
Thankfully, Nintendo says these changes don’t affect the overall gameplay or course of events in the game. If anything, Bravely Second players outside of Japan are probably getting a better product for the fact that you won’t feel guilty after completing these side quests.
