Silicon Valley: Season Premiere Review

Well, Silicon Valley's last season finale cliffhanger wasn't quite as devastating as it let on, but Richard's "firing" certainly got the ball rolling on Season 3 in a hurry. Mere minutes into the premiere, I was cracking up at the Bambot gag, which got me back into the mindset of this show's uniquely bizarre humor. Just the visual gag of Erlich trying to kick over a BigDog with antlers was a great way to launch into this storyline (even though it had almost nothing to do with it).

Again, the push and pull between Richard and Laurie wasn't as dynamic as it could have been, since Richard was merely demoted to CTO from CEO, but it was still very in keeping with his character to be so arrogant and want to jump ship entirely. Which, in the moment, had a humorous payoff with Ron, who matter-of-factly informed Richard he was Pied Piper's legal counsel, not his. Similarly, Monica's "betrayal" culminated in a scathing Judas comparison from Erlich, noting that Judas at least "had the courtesy to kill himself" after he double-crossed Jesus.
