Warning: Full spoilers for the episode below...
Marvel's Agents of SHIELD returned with a fun, double-wide high-concept Season 5 premiere that acted as sort of a soft reboot for the show - taking (most) of our heroes and shooting them into space and *spoilers* into the future.
The series wisely leaned into humor for most of this two-chapter season opener, really helping ease viewers into such a large, and possibly series ending, premise. Coulson and (primarily) Mack were able to snark and crack wise about their abrupt abduction and surprise space adventure -- which first tackled savage alien monsters known as "Roaches" killing off a ton of peripheral grunts and then morphed into a much larger story about the ashes of humanity being held inside a clunky Kree space prison -- allowing for the absolute absurdity of the scenario to shine in a more positive light.
