I'll admit to being wary at the prospect of a Venom-centric crossover so soon on the heels of the utterly pointless and underwhelming Venomverse. Can't we just let Eddie Brock do his thing for a while without dragging 300 other versions of the character into the mix? The good news is that Venom Inc. is shaping up to be the enjoyable, meaningful crossover Venomverse wasn't. After too long, Spider-Man is finally having the confrontation with his old foe we've been waiting for.
With Venom Inc. being a joint effort between Dan Slott's Amazing Spider-Man and Mike Costa's Venom, it's only fitting that the two writers join forces for this opening one-shot. Slott seems to have a knack for collaborating with others on Spider-Man books, as evidenced by all the issues co-written by Christos Gage that are barely distinguishable from Slott's solo work. The same holds true here. It's never readily apparent which writer is tackling what section (or if the script was even divided in that fashion). This issue simply reads like a natural fusion of both ASM and Venom's storytelling sensibilities.
