He-Man and Injustice Are a Winning Team

This new miniseries isn't the first time the heroes of the DC Universe and Eternia have crossed paths. But it does bring something new to the table, as this is the first time He-Man and the gang are encountering the battle-weary heroes of the Injustice universe. That remixed pairing carries plenty of potential, though this first issue only begins to tap into into it.

Inter-franchise crossovers seems to be DC's method of keeping the Masters of the Universe saga alive and commercially viable, so this book is also a direct follow-up to the events of 2016's He-Man/Thundercats. He-Man has just finished reclaiming his stolen throne from Faker, and finds himself bothered by the notion that many Eternians were happier living under the rule of a forceful tyrant. You can pretty much figure out where writer Tim Seeley and artist Freddie E. Williams II are going from there. Suffice it to say, Seeley's script begins forging a clever thematic bond between these two franchises. Is this the first time that He-Man has been politically relevant?
