Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 is preparing to strike next month, but with a few weeks to go before its release, it looks like EA and PopCap would like to test out the game's online capabilities a little early. That's why there's a public multiplayer beta lined up, set to kick off next Thursday.
Players will get a chance to check out a piece of the Backyard Battleground, which acts as the game's central hub. Dynamic events will take place there, in addition to connecting players to maps and game modes. Upon jumping into the game, the Plant players can select Rose, Citron, and Kernal Corn, while the Zombie side will get Imp (with his Grass Effect Z7-Mech also available), Super Brainz, and Captain Deadbeard. Sessions will support up to 24 players across classic and debuting game modes, set on four new maps.
The beta will available to console players, so Xbox One and PlayStation 4 owners will want to check their respective marketplaces next week. The Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 multiplayer beta will run from January 14-18, with the full game set to release on February 23. More information can be found on the game's beta page.
