Legion of Super Heroes has a longstanding reputation for being one of the more convoluted and even impenetrable franchises in DC's library. The roster alone can be hard to parse, with so many heroes and so many campy names competing for page space. That's to say nothing of the steady stream of reboots and relaunches that have only served to make this long-running franchise all the more confusing. It's enough to wonder if DC's decision to reboot the Legion from scratch once again is really the wisest course of action. But with the winning combination of writer Brian Michael Bendis and artist Ryan Sook, there's never been a better time to dive into the 31st Century.
Again, this is a top down reboot of Legion continuity, building on the scene in Doomsday Clock #11 where the time-displaced Saturn Girl is wiped out of existence along with her timeline. Apart from some earlier setup in Bendis' Superman run and the Legion of Super Heroes: Millennium miniseries, there's no existing continuity to worry about. All you really need to know is that 16-year-old Jon Kent has traveled to the future to join the newly formed Legion of Super Heroes, filling a role once handled by his father in prior versions of DCU lore.
