X-Force Is Now Marvel's Most Important X-Men Comic

The latest game news from IGN - one of my fave channels ever - check it out

In terms of plot, it's safe to say X-Force is the most important companion series to Jonathan Hickman and Leinil Yu's monthly X-Men comic. But two issues in, maybe it's best to go a step further. This isn't just the most crucial Dawn of X tie-in; it's actually doing more to set the tone and direction of the franchise than X-Men itself. X-Force is rapidly becoming the proverbial "if you only read one X-Men comic..." title. It's just as well the series is actually good on top of that.

All of this stems from issue #1's unexpected cliffhanger - the apparent assassination of Charles Xavier. Even in an era where death doesn't mean much for the X-Men anymore, that's a pretty big deal. The question is less whether Xavier's death will stick for any real length of time than how the X-Men's resurrection machine works without such a crucial component in place. Not to mention what goes wrong if a less experienced psychic makes a mistake. Those questions fuel a very fast-paced and exciting followup chapter. We don't necessarily get all the answers yet, but the book wastes no time diving into the immediate fallout of this assassination and the X-Men's response.
