Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 won't release in the west for fear of backlash

Here we go, the latest and greatest from Shacknews...

Koei Tecmo announced Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 a few months ago, and today, we’re learning the Team Ninja has no plans for a western release for fear of backlash from the gaming community outside of Japan.

Answering a fan on the official Dead or Alive Facebook page, Team Ninja revealed there are currently no plans to bring DoA Xtreme 3 to the west. “We do not bring DOAX3 to the west and won't have any plan change in the future,” the studio said when asked if the game would be headed to the US and EU regions.

Team Ninja followed up its original statement to reveal the real reason behind not planning to develop the game for western territories. “Do you know many issues happening in video game industry with regard to how to treat female in video game industry? We do not want to talk those things here. But certainly we have gone through in last year or two to come to our decision. Thank you.”

Considering how outraged the gaming community has been over certain aspects of popular games over the years, we can’t exactly blame the studio for their decision. Fortunately, for those who would love nothing more than to see bubbly girls wearing skimpy clothing while on vacation, Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 will be region free and all of its menus and subtitles will be available in English. This should make the process of importing it once it’s released a breeze.
