Killer Instinct celebrates 2 years with UI update and December release for Shadow Jago

Here we go, the latest and greatest from Shacknews...

Two years have passed since Microsoft launched the Xbox One and that momentous date is not lost on the folks at Iron Galaxy. That means it's been two years since Killer Instinct debuted and to celebrate, the developer is detailing the game's next major update.

The Ultra-Combo formus detail some UI changes that will help pave the way for next year's Season 3. New UI messages like 'Reversal' are now available, as are new strength indicators for Combo Breakers. Lockout timers will likewise indicate how much time a fighter has to tee off on an opponent before the Combo Breaker window opens anew, while also indicating which strength the opponent should have used to Breaker out of that combo.

Elsewhere on the forums, expect to see the long-awaited standalone release of Shadow Jago. And as revealed at Evo 2015 earlier this year, he'll have his own distinct moves.

As for celebrating the anniversary proper, Killer Instinct has been updated to give all players a special Challenge to complete. Finishing this Challenge will enter that user into a giveaway for prizes, but they'll need to take a screenshot of the completed Challenge with the Xbox app and submit it to the forums. Winners will be selected throughout the week, while the grand prize drawing will commence this Friday.
