Valkyria: Azure Revolution will have perma-death that will reshape its story

Here we go, the latest and greatest from Shacknews...

Valkyria: Azure Revolution will feature perma-death, will reshape its story based on these deaths, and will have a difficulty that will offer some obstacles to players.

In an interview with Dengeki PlayStation, translated by Siliconera, Valkyria: Azure Revolution’s director Takeshi Ozawa and chief producer Yoichi Shimosato discussed some key aspects of the upcoming game.

Just like in previous iterations of the Valkyria series, sub-characters can die, which we assume would occur if they’re knocked out and not revived in time. There will be events and other story elements for sub-characters that will give the play an incentive to keep them alive, but if they die, the character’s events will be cut out of the game’s main storyline. Fortunately, players will be able to redo missions, which will give us the opportunity to experience these events if we really want to.

As far as its difficulty is concerned, Ozawa-san says he believes the game definitely has some obstacles and its difficulty isn’t that low. An easy mode is planned, which we would think would be an ideal fit for those who are more interested in the game’s story over its combat difficulty.

Valkyria: Azure Revolution will be available on the PlayStation 4 in Japan some time in winter 2016.
