Bob Ross' 'The Joy of Painting' will air weekly on Twitch

Here we go, the latest and greatest from Shacknews...

When Twitch launched its Creative channel a couple of weeks ago, it launched with a reminder of how much joy Bob Ross' foray into the art world brought into the world. It was somewhat bittersweet to see "The Joy of Painting" marathon finally reach its conclusion last week, but having seen how much happiness Bob Ross' work brought to a new generation of Twitch viewers, the folks at Twitch did not want to see it end. That's why "The Joy of Painting" will carry on.

Viewers of the Bob Ross channel on Twitch may have noticed a countdown. The countdown is the first of weekly Bob Ross nights, in which a full season of "The Joy of Painting" will air every Monday night. With 31 seasons to air, it'll be roughly seven months before the first set of repeats. Furthermore, Bob Ross' birthday on October 29 will mark the return of "The Joy of Painting" marathon.

Viewers will also notice a $4.99 subscription for the Bob Ross channel. Proceeds from those subscriptions will be split between the program's rights holders; Root division, a non-profit dedicated to supporting artists and teaching the arts to children; St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, for cancer research; and Twitch Creative community support.

Finally, the numbers are in for the Bob Ross marathon. Over 5.6 million unique viewers gathered together for 545,880,000 minutes, with over 183,000 concurrent viewers. That's quite a way to keep a great artist's legacy alive for a whole new generation.
