BlizzCon is taking place tomorrow, but today we’re learning Blizzard might be bringing its upcoming team-based shooter, Overwatch, to consoles.
There have been a number of hints pop up online regarding a possible console release for the game. The first piece of evidence includes the results of data mining its beta, which included strings of code that uses authentication checks on both PlayStation Network and Xbox Live. The inclusion of controller support for the PC version, the game’s overall user-friendly interface, and Blizzard’s European website briefly stating the game was coming to console continue to add fuel to this rumor fire.
The last piece of evidence to this claim is the fact that some fans are already spotting pre-order notices at their local GameStop. Unfortunately, there are no images of these notices and the GameStop website doesn’t have them either, although we’re hoping what users are reporting turn out to be true.
This wouldn't be the first time Blizzard developed a game for consoles as the company successfully launched Diablo III on consoles. Overwatch seems like an obvious fit for console release, so we're hoping Blizzard is ready to make its big announcement during this weekend's BlizzCon.
