Street Fighter 5 suffers from disappointing PC sales in its first week

Here we go, the latest and greatest from Shacknews...

Street Fighter 5 launched on both PlayStation 4 and PC, but it seems sales on PC have underwhelmed as it has only sold a little over 100,000 copies on the platform.

The numbers come from SteamSpy, which updated the sales figures for Street Fighter 5’s first week sales. According to its numbers, Street Fighter 5 sold 100,609 in its first week on PC at an average price of $59.99. Compared to the recent launch of other PC games, like Rise of the Tomb Raider and XCOM 2, a little over 100,000 is very low. For reference, XCOM 2 sold over 550,000 copies in its first five days, while Rise of the Tomb Raider sold close to 325,000.

Capcom has heavily promoted the PlayStation 4 version in many of its promotional assets for Street Fighter 5, which could be a major factor as to why its PC version hasn’t sold many copies. Or it could be the fact that Capcom essentially released an Early Access game at full price, which could mean many potential PC owners are keeping an eye on its development before purchasing it, or are just waiting for it to go on sale.
