Nintendo doesn't shy away from shaking up E3 protocol, bucking press conferences in favor of its Direct video presentations that provide a more intimate look at games in development. This year, Nintendo is eschewing its Direct to focus almost entirely on The Legend of Zelda for Wii U—"almost entirely" being the operative phrase.
Although Legend of Zelda for Wii U will comprise the majority of Nintendo's 30,000 square feet of space at this year's E3, several other games will be showcased during its two-day Treehouse Live broadcast, which begins on Tuesday, June 14 at 9am Pacific. On that day, Nintendo Treehouse reps will cover Zelda and debut gameplay footage from Pokémon Sun and Moon, according to a Japanese site devoted to the games.
Beginning Tuesday, June 15 at 10a Pacific, Treehouse will get things rolling with a developer Q&A centered on Pokémon Go, the upcoming augmented reality game from Niantic and The Pokémon Company. As the day continues, Treehouse reps will dig into Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past, Monster Hunter Generations, and Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE.
You'll be able to watch Treehouse on YouTube, Nintendo's E3 website, and Twitch. While other games will be shown during Treehouse broadcasts, The Legend of Zelda will be Nintendo's only playable game at the show.
The Legend of Zelda will launch simultaneously on Wii U and NX next spring, alongside Nintendo's NX console.
