Warning: The following contains spoilers about the episode.
After stepping away from the spotlight at the end of DBZ, it’s rare that we get to see Gohan take center stage. Episode 73 looks to remedy this as we see what his life has become and what it’d be like if he re-emerged as the hero we once knew. Although the idea of revisiting Gohan is interesting, the execution left something to be desired.
Making a Great Saiyaman movie is the driving force of Episode 73. Although the idea is a little out there, it makes a lot of sense when we find out Mr. Satan is part of the team. He’s always searching for more fame, so to see him ripping off the Great Saiyaman idea makes perfect sense, even if the real Great Saiyaman happens to be married to his daughter Videl. Episode 73 does an excellent job of playing on Mr. Satan’s strengths as a character, and much like Bulma, it helps show off that not every character has to be a powerful fighter to be fun and interesting.
