Gotham: "Smile Like You Mean It" Review

Though none of the "Smile Like You Mean It" pictures in the gallery below will show it, the headline this week was pure Jerome. Yes, Cameron Monaghan returned to the series to inject this season with a jolt of energy and craziness that only "a Joker who's not really the Joker" can provide.

Seriously though, Monaghan's great. And it felt like was even more at home in the role this week, despite walking around most of the time with a bandaged, bloody face. His Jerome, which has to be considered a Joker performance really, may be a blend of notable maniacs, including past Jokers, but it's a smooth blend. Jerome's funny and, best of all, he doesn't feel forced. There's nothing about him that's designed to evoke empathy or display any inner damage -- you know, for texture -- but he still feels very present and real.
