When it comes to event comics, few things are more annoying than a finale issue that devotes more time to setting the stage for new stories than attempting to wrap up the current one. Unfortunately, that's a mistake Justice League vs. Suicide Squad makes. Despite the promising setup in Justice League vs. Suicide Squad #5 last week, the final chapter offers an anticlimactic conclusion to this crossover.
All the pieces were certainly in place, with Batman and a handful of Suicide Squad members being all that stands between the reborn Eclipso and total world domination. Sadly, that final battle is over and done with in surprisingly quick fashion. It's hardly a battle that matches the spectacle seen in the initial clash between the two teams or their collective confrontation with Amanda Waller's original Suicide Squad. Too much room is devoted to pacing the way for the new Justice League of America comic and too little towards giving Eclipso the showcase he deserves. Not to mention the fact that one Amanda Waller-related piece of fallout makes absolutely no logical sense.
