Justice League vs. Suicide Squad hit a major bump in the road with its third issue, but the series quickly bounces back in issue #4. Writer Joshua Williamson has reached the true meat of this crossover, as both teams are forced to band together to take on Maxwell Lord's allies, and that showdown serves as just the shot in the arm the book needed.
Lord's team is certainly an intriguing bunch. If not necessarily A-List villains (outside of Lobo), this group has both the raw power and motivation to take on both the Justice League and Suicide Squad. If anything, they manage to make the Justice League feel like the underdogs of the story in the same way the Suicide Squad were as the conflict began. This issue succeeds in showcasing Lord's various minions in action, whether it's Johnny Sorrow unleashing a host of Lovecraftian demons or Lobo doggedly pursuing Batman and Waller.
