I'm sure we all had the same thought when NBC announced a TV series based on the Taken trilogy. "Is Bryan Mills going to have to rescue his daughter every single week?" Instead, Taken the series serves as a prequel to Taken the film, though only in a very loose sense. And for the most part, the series is more notable for the ways in which it diverges from the source material than how it replicates it.
Taken stars Clive Standen (Vikings) as a young Bryan Mills, who even at this very early stage is already a proficient killing machine and expert brooder. The series also stars Jennifer Beals (The L Word) as Christina Hart, a shadowy government operative with a marked interest in Mills' talents. Luc Besson remains on board the franchise in the role of producer, while Homeland's Alexander Cary serves as showrunner.
