Minecraft: Pocket Edition and Windows 10 beta update adds redstone, deserts, and rabbits

Here we go, the latest and greatest from Shacknews...

From an outsider's perspective, it would appear that Minecraft players have enough building supplies, but that's not entirely the case. Redstone components have been conspicuously absent from Minecraft: Pocket Edition and the Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition beta. That is no longer the case, as today's .13 update has added some of these new building tools.

For the uninitiated, redstone can be used to produce redstone dust, which in turn can help produce some of the more advanced items in Minecraft. Redstone dust can help link together items to create intriguing new combination items, like doorbells, switchable lights, and yes, even a train station, like the one Chatty's TroZ made down below.

In addition to redstone, the latest update is also adding new desert temples that are rising from the sands. They contain valuable loot for anyone that survive what dwells inside. Players can also find rabbits, which are cuddly and adorable... and also destructive, since they eat crops when you're not looking.

The .13 update is free to anyone running Minecraft: Pocket Edition or the Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition beta. Those looking to toss a few bucks into the game can grab a new batch of skins from the Biome Settler Pack, which adds over two dozen new character skins and some new settler characters.
