Warning: Full spoilers for the episode follow.
After just a few days in the 1960s, Jake has already messed things up pretty bad. Any reasonable person would have gone back to Maine and reset the timeline for another go. Alas, no reset is coming any time soon. Instead, Jake abandoned his mission to see if he could make a real difference for his former student and friend Harry Dunning. The result was a taut and emotional episode, albeit one having almost nothing to do with the task at hand.
"The Kill Floor" introduced a handful of fun one-off characters, including Stephen King alums Annette O'Toole (It) and Michael O'Neill (TV's The Shining) as Jake's Bible-thumping boarders. Of course, the most notable addition here was Josh Duhamel as Harry's would-be murderer father Frank, who was at the center of this storyline. Early scenes between Jake and Frank were tense enough, as the former tried to talk the latter out of resorting to violence, but the big "cow hammer" scene was where Jake's dance with the devil really took a turn and prompted him to rethink his strategy.
