Fire Emblem Fates Conquest and Birthright sell 300k copies during launch weekend

Here we go, the latest and greatest from Shacknews...

Fire Emblem Fates released last week, and today, Nintendo has revealed the game has sold over 300,000 units during its launch weekend, making it the fastest-selling game in franchise history.

“Both fans and critics are falling for Fire Emblem Fates, and the early sales numbers prove the game’s undeniable appeal,” said Scott Moffitt, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of sales & marketing. “This strong momentum for Nintendo 3DS is only the beginning, as many more high-quality exclusive games are set to launch for the hand-held system over the next few months.”

Fire Emblem Fates: Birthright was the top seller between the two versions of the game, although Fire Emblem Fates: Conquest came in a close second. Those who purchased one version of the game are still able to pick up the other for a discounted price of $19.99, although the offer is only good for the digital version of the games.

More content for Fire Emblem Fates is already available as its first DLC map was released for free on Feb. 19, with more maps to follow on a regular basis through April 21. On March 10, Fire Emblem Fates: Revelation will launch as exclusive DLC for both Birthright and Conquest. The third path to its story will offer a new adventure and is recommended for players who completed one or both of the other versions.
