Star Wars Battlefront has received its latest update and it's good news for anyone that loves the icy planet of Hoth. EA and DICE are picking up and moving to another part of the frigid planet for its newest map, while also adding a few other changes ahead of next month's expansion pack.
The new Hoth map, titled Twilight of Hoth, is expected to support all of Battlefront's 40-player game modes, including the recently-introduced Turning Point mode. This is a much harsher version of the standard Hoth map, so expect to see many more blizzards and much darker conditions. Think something like the scene from The Empire Strikes Back where Han Solo is searching Luke and he merely thinks Tauntauns smell bad on the outside. The nearby ice caves will also play home to the newest Survival Mission, which will see players attempt to ward off Imperial forces inside the frosty caverns.
One other major item to note is that the Battle of Jakku DLC that was issued for free in December is now being patched into the game proper. Therefore, anyone with the DLC file can feel free to delete it to make some extra space on their hard drive. A few other balance tweaks have been added, which can be found on the Star Wars Battlefront website.
All of this is in preparation for the Outer Rim expansion, which is set to debut in March. That will be available to all Season Pass owners, assuming they've ponied up the $50 asking price. As for today's update, that's absolutely free.
