A total of 6.4 million players took part in this weekend’s Tom Clancy’s: The Division beta, Ubisoft has announced, making this the largest beta for a new IP this console generation.
During this weekend’s The Division open beta, players clocked in an average of around five hours. The Dark Zone, which we learned would receive drastic changes, proved to be a popular destination for Agents as players averaged around two hours in the dangerous PvP-filled area. Nearly 50% of those Agents turned Rogue, which means we’re going to be keeping our eye on other players when venturing through the Dark Zone.
The Division open beta kicked off on Xbox One on February 18, then became available on PlayStation 4 and PC on February 19. Agents who took part in the open beta were able to rank up to level eight in The Division, while Dark Zone participants were able to rank up to level 12. As is the case with most betas, none of our progress will carry over when the game releases on March 8th.
One The Division launches, Ubisoft plans on releasing three paid expansions, which will be available on the Xbox platform 30 days in advance. We know the first expansion will allow players to explore the uncharted underworld of New York City, while its second will focus on surviving a very hostile environment.
If we had to guess what that hostile environment was, it’d be downtown Jersey City. There’s a ton of hostility down there in everyday life, so we could only imagine how it’d be in the world of The Division.
