EA to release Battlefield 1, Titanfall 2 within three weeks of one another

Here we go, the latest and greatest from Shacknews...

Electronic Arts CFO Blake Jorgensen spoke at the 2016 Bank of America Merrill Lynch Global Technology Conference, and teased a rough release window for Respawn Entertainment's Titanfall 2, confirmed to be released this fall.

According to Jorgensen, Titanfall 2 will be released three weeks from DICE's Battlefield 1—which could be late September, or around November 11, as BF1 is slated for an October 21 release date. Jorgensen did not specify whether Respawn's sequel would be released before or after the WWI-themed shooter.

For what it's worth, recent rumors have Titanfall 2 pegged for the month of October as well.

Both games will compete against Activision's forthcoming Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, due for release on November 4. When asked about the stiff competition posed by Call of Duty, Jorgensen said EA is "not uncomfortable with that." (Per Dual Shockers.)

Doubling up against Call of Duty seems like a smart move for EA. Another concern, however, is the potential for Battlefield 1 and Titanfall 2 to cannibalize each other's sales. EA CEO Andrew Wilson dismissed those concerns during the company's conference call earlier this month.

"There is a very broad and diverse set of players who play games in that category who are looking to fulfil different gameplay motivations," he said (per VideoGamer). "Some people play very quick play, some people more strategic play, and some people want both in different context. The result of that is, we feel like we actually have a really strong position to deliver the broadest set of gameplay mechanics as it relates to first-person shooter genre across the two titles, and feel very confident that we are well-positioned to do very well in that category in the year."
