The Walking Dead: "Some Guy" Review

In Walking Dead's strongest chapter of Season 8 so far (though it wasn't without flaws), Ezekiel's weeks of boasting and bravado caught up with him in the worst way when 95% of his squad (save for two characters we actually knew, and liked) got mowed down at the hands of some Saviors with M2 .50 caliber machine guns.

It was the biggest setback of Rick's attack plan to date and definitely the biggest moment for Ezekiel to date, as a character. You might have known something like this was coming if you'd read the comics (though not for certain, since the show doesn't always adapt everything) OR you could have just seen it coming because Ezekiel, basically, has been daring doom to rain down on him and his entire crew since the season premiere. All his smiling, bragging, quoting of Henry V, and proclamations that no one on his team would die could only really lead to a horrific end. So it was easy enough to telegraph. Still, Ezekiel losing his entire army of skilled warriors, who'd placed their unwavering faith in him, was damn effective - even if it involved losing a lot of characters we didn't know or grieve over.
