Graphic Novel Review: Teen Titans - Earth One Vol. 2

It's been far too long since DC has delivered a great Teen Titans run. It's enough to wonder why these characters struggle so much in print and yet always seem to thrive on television. It remains to be seen if DC Rebirth will redeem the Titans franchise like it has several others, but at least fans have the Earth One graphic novels to fall back on. Teen Titans: Earth One Vol. 2 is a worthy and even necessary continuation of the original.

Vol. 2 picks up mere weeks after the events of the first graphic novel. The team (if they can be described as such at this early stage) are currently in hiding, with Raven taking Starfire under her wing and the rest eking out a living in an abandoned housing development. Basically, things aren't going swimmingly for our young heroes, and the situation only gets worse when Niles Caulder dispatches a new group of teen superhumans to bring in these renegades. If anything, the vibe is more Runaways than traditional Teen Titans, but there are far worse sources of inspiration Jeff Lemire and Andy MacDonald could be drawing from.
