From the very first episode, The Night Of distinguished itself with a crushing sense of dread that followed at Nasir Khan’s heels. It was there during his fateful night with Andrea. It was there as he cycled through the prison system and into the courtroom. And it was certainly present in this week’s finale as Naz waited to learn if he would spend the rest of his life behind bars. Yet, in the end, there was also a surprisingly optimistic streak cutting through the show’s darkness. The series didn‘t necessarily end on the note viewers were expecting, but that doesn’t mean it didn’t offer a gripping conclusion to such an “edge of your seat” crime drama.
